This is a piece of old newspaper torn as found in a train in Utrecht. The building depicted on the photo is a Neutelings Riedijk Instituut voor Beeld en Geluid. The lady on the left is Eva-Maria Westbroek an opera singer in the role of Anna Nicole Smith. Her full picture you will find here. Interesting thing about this finding is that a normal newspaper in the Netherlands (Nrc Handelsblad) makes a thorough investigation into the issue of Facadenarchitecture. The reader is being presented with quotations from Learning from Las Vegas and theories of Mies van der Rohe. Later on the author calls out many contemporary Dutch architects to make their statement later contrasted with some facts from Italian chapters from History of Architecture.
This trend is increasingly present that architecture is being popularised by the media worldwide. More popular understanding of aesthetics, construction methods and philosophy of architecture could be a future ingredient in the process of the cultural leap forward Poland is making in the present. Maybe one day we could bring the level of public trust and awereness to such levels that anyone could be given a possibility to design and build his/her own house on his own.
