056. Perception

Every time the perception of time and space is different. Sometimes your feel that your mind is filled with flashes, one coming after another, everything is sharp, precise and defined by a time frame. Some other time there are days when you cannot tell precisely what happened when. Your experience becomes a continuum of time and space, your mind is rather filled with gradients of colours than with sharp contours. On a sunday morning I found a perfect illustration for my state of mind when cycling through the Ijburg. Water and the skies had the same blue hue and sometimes you couldn't even tell where one ends and the other begins.

Perception is not a passive reception of the external signals though. It is highly influenced by what we have already learned previously and by different kind of expectations we are developing. Then the harmony must be a fascinating mixture of many ingredients which may happen only when brought together in the right proportions and in right time.
